71 percent of carts are abandoned. Fix your cart abandonment
Thrive Themes to ThriveCart bridge

Cart Conversion Boost helps you capture your visitor's name and email before they hit your ThriveCart checkout — then pre-fills the cart form, removes the friction, and gives you a lead you can follow up with whether they buy or not.

If you use ThriveThemes and ThriveCart, you're running a funnel with a hidden leak.

If you look at your traffic stats and your sales stats, you'll probably find something close to 71% get to your cart...

And then abandon.

71%.  That is the global average, for people who get to the shopping cart and then abandon their sale.  Your number might be plus or minus a bit.  But probably something close.

And those are about the hottest leads you will ever get.

They have seen our marketing, your message, are interested, they've read your website and clicked through... and about to buy.

Something distracted them, or they felt they didn't quite have all the info.

And if they leave without buying, you've often lost them entirely. No email, no follow-up, no second chance.

Capture The Lead

Many shopping cart systems like ThriveCart have some kind of cart abandonment process.

But it is imperfect.  It does not capture ALL of the leads.  Many slip through the net. And then they're gone-gone.

It is better to get 100% of the leads who are about to (maybe) buy.

So you capture the lead before they get to the shopping cart -  pre-cart.

With Thrive Themes you can easily generate an opt-in form, to go on your sales page, that then passes the customer to your ThriveCart shopping page.

I did this.

And captured 100% of all leads that were passed to the cart page.

But...

Someone lands on your page. They're interested — interested enough to type their name and email into your opt-in form and get passed through to your cart...

Then ThriveCart asks for the same name and email again!

That second request costs you sales. Some people shrug and keep going. But a lot of them — more than you'd think — stop. Maybe they got distracted. Maybe it just felt off. "Did I not already do this?" That small moment of doubt erodes trust right at the point where you need it most.

Cart Conversion Boost is a free WordPress plugin that closes this gap.

  1. Take the lead pre-cart
  2. Pre-fill the cart page with that same name and email, automatically - no retyping.  And
  3. Convert more sales with a smoother flow.

Install it in about 5 minutes. Connect it to one product. Watch your opt-in data carry straight into ThriveCart — no re-typing, no friction, no lost leads.

The Funnel That Looked Fine — Until I Looked at the Numbers

I had a funnel that looked good on paper.

ThriveThemes Opt-in page. Email confirmation. Sales page. ThriveCart checkout. Simple, clean, should have been working.

Then I actually looked at my numbers.

68% of people who hit my cart were leaving without buying.

I started trying to figure out why.  And how I could get them back.

So I made my "Buy Now" button into an 2-step (on-click pop-up)  opt-in form.  And got pretty good opt-in rates (2-step usually does).

I took the lead before they got to the shopping cart.  And made the opt-in completion page forward to my ThriveCart product page.

That made a big ole' improvement.  Because now I could email them if they didn't buy.

But the initial-buys (people who bought on first visit) dipped slightly.

And the more I dug, the more I noticed the same small friction point sitting at the top of my checkout: a form asking for a name and email. The same name and email people had already given me a minute earlier on the opt-in page.

What I Tried (And Why It Didn't Work)

First, I thought maybe the problem was the sales-page opt-in form layout. So I rebuilt it. Tested it, but the name and email wouldn't pass into the ThriveCart shopping page.

ThriveThemes give you the option to pass variables (the customer's name and email) from the opt-in form on to the landing page afterwards, like this...

Thrive Themes LIghtbox

Thrive Themes Lightbox can pass the opt-in data...

But they didn't match how ThriveCart receive such data!

ThriveThemes sends the data like this...

   ?tve_name=[value]&email=[value]

But ThriveCart can only accept and read it when it is in this format...

   ?passthrough[customer_email]=value&passthrough[customer_name]=value

Its like Thrive Themes is sending the data in French, and ThriveCart are listening for the data with German ears.

Different languages.

So it didn't work.

When people clicked through to ThriveCart, they still hit the same blank checkout form.  And had to re-type their name and email.

Same problem, different packaging.

Then I hired a programmer to build a custom script to pass the data forward. Three days of back-and-forth, difficult communication, hundreds of dollars, and a tricky bit of code I had to manually update for each product.

None of it was the actual best fix.  I had to dig into the code to make it work for every one of my products.

What Actually Fixed It

The fix was straightforward once I saw it: yes, capture the lead before the cart, and yes, carry that data
forward to pre-fill the checkout. One continuous flow. No repeated typing. No friction at the moment of payment.

But build it properly.  As a WordPress plugin.  A plugin that is super-simple to add new products as we scaled and grew.

So I built it properly. A lightweight plugin that sits between your ThriveThemes opt-in form and your ThriveCart checkout.

And changes the 'language' of the code from ThriveThemes-speak into ThriveCart-speak.

One language.  One bridge.

The visitor types their name and email once, in the ThriveThemes opt-in form.

The plugin captures that lead (and into your email provider - MailChimp, ActiveCampaign, MailerLite etc) — and pre-fills the  ThriveCart shopping cart fields automatically.

And invisibly

This is the flow...

Cart Conversion Boost flow

And the customer never sees the Cart Conversion Boost part - it is invisible.

I ran it on my own funnels. Over a few months, I saw between 5% and 27% more completed sales — just from removing that one friction point.

And from emailing the non-buyers to entice them back.

(I've also got some great tips for you on the most effective cart abandonment email message sequences - more on that later)

A few people in my network asked if they could use it.

So I packaged it. And the free version is yours right now, below.

Capture The Lead
Pre-Cart

By capturing the name and email address before the shopping cart, you secure 100% of all possible cart abandonment non-buyers.

Pre-Fill The Cart
Automatically

Cart Conversion Boost pre-fills the shopping cart with their name and email address, so they don't have to re-type it again.

Convert More
Sales

Because it is smoother sales flow, and because you can email the non-buyers to entice them back, you complete more paid sales.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

What's the catch — why is this free?

The free version is complete and works properly. It connects one product to the Cart Conversion Boost flow, which is enough to see the difference it makes to your checkout conversion. If you want to use it across all your products, there's a Pro version. But there's no obligation — download the free version, try it, and see what happens.

What do I need to use this?

You need ThriveThemes (Thrive Architect and/or Thrive Leads) and a ThriveCart account. If you're already running a funnel with both, you're set. The setup instructions cover every step — including how to create the opt-in form, connect your email provider, and install the plugin.

How long does setup take?

Most people are live in under 5 minutes. There's a written guide and video walkthrough included with your download.

What do I do with the leads I capture pre-cart?

This is where the value compounds. Anyone who opts in but doesn't complete the purchase is a cart abandonment opportunity. A short email sequence — 3 to 5 emails over the first few days — can recover a meaningful percentage of those lost sales. The instructions walk you through setting this up.

Is this officially part of ThriveThemes or ThriveCart?

No. Cart Conversion Boost is an independent third-party plugin. It's designed to work with both platforms but isn't affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to either.

What if I'm not technical?

The installation videos show every single step. If you can log in to WordPress, install a plugin, and do a copy-and-paste, then you can set this up.

Your funnel is probably losing sales right now at the exact moment someone has already decided they want to buy.

This plugin is free. Setup takes 5 minutes. The leads you're currently losing are gone-for-good if you don't have them before the cart.
